My unending quest of becoming physically fit!
Hello everyone! Thank you for stopping by my blog. As described in the title, I have been trying to lose weight and get fit for as long as I can remember but I didn't reach my goals due to lack of commitment. I'm currently 22 years old and I really want to get the body that I want NOW before marriage and having kids. I will use this blog to track my progress, keep a diary of my efforts and results. Please provide words of encouragement if you can, because I'm sure I will need them!
So I've been searching around for work out routines that I should follow to lose weight and get fit. There are the programs that I've tried and my thoughts about them:
Turbo Jam: this is the kickboxing/dancy workout rountine. The routine is great and Chalene is an amazing instructor. There are a lot of jumping and kicking and punching. It really boost self confidence because you feel like you are a bad-ass after the work out. I truly enjoy the program. The only thing that stop by from continue doing it was the repetition...I got bored working out to the same routine day after day...not that it was not good, this was more of my preference.
Hip Hop Abs:...meh...if you enjoy Turbo Jam that much, HHA was a little bit boring.
Insanity: NOW we're talking. I truly enjoy this routine. It is absolutely hard core, no kidding. While I see a vast improvements in my cardio endurance, I fell like it is a quick rountine rather than something that I would do for the rest of my life. However, if I crave an intense workout, I would definitely turn to Insanity. Once you go Insanity, you won't go back to Turbo Jame...yes, I said it. With Insanity, you start sweating within the first 5 minutes and with Turbo Jam, ...about 15-20 mins later. Both workouts have their pro and con, but I like Insanity better.
Chalene Xtreme: NOW we're talking, as far as weight lifting for women. I believe women should lift more weight and Chalene brings the idea home in this workout. Her approach was great (1 set of 12 reps, 3 days a week) but for some reason, it didn't stick with me throughout the year.
You think, "Well, if she does all of these workouts, she should be very fit!" No, not necessarily. Why? My diet. I'm Vietnamese and , to be honest, we are a big fan of unhealthy carbs: rice, noodles, anyone? It's like carb is intergrated into my brain and I gotta have it, along with other Vietnamese dishes. Second: I lack commitment. Yes, I admit it. It's not anyone fault but my own. Keeping myself to continue to do these workouts is difficult. Sometimes, I had a great month of working out, follow with a month of not working out...unbelievable. And some other reasons as well.
BUT that about to change. I'm on the quest of bettering myself and I will try to stay on track as much as possible.
My journey begins today, 8/7/2012. I will be updating my progress while trying out different workouts and tricks.
Wish me luck!
